Photographic materials required for reproduction purposes must be obtained from Historic Scotland Images.

Permission to reproduce is dependent upon full acceptance of these regulations and is automatically abrogated if any part is infringed.

Permission to reproduce and the charges payable cover only the specific occasion and the number of copies detailed on your order. All reprints, further editions or re-employment of the image in any other project will require new application and are not covered by the original payment.

The image area must not be masked out, cut down, superimposed with type; or in any way defaced or manipulated without prior written consent. Where the image is to appear on the web,  the resolution should be no more than 72 dpi, unless by prior agreement.

Under no circumstances may duplicate images be made from the images supplied. This includes  transparencies, negatives, or photographic prints.  Original material from Historic Scotland may under no circumstances be passed on to a third party.

The reproduction of images in any format must bear the acknowledgement:

On the publishing date a complete copy of each publication must be forwarded to Historic Scotland images for record purposes.
