1949 Professor Ralegh Radford excavates at Whithorn Priory. 1952 Death of King George VI. Elizabeth II becomes Queen.
1955 Queen Elizabeth tours the priory ruins.
1957 – 1967 Further excavations at the priory explore medieval graves.
1984 – 1991 Large-scale excavations in and around the priory reveal over 1,500 years’ worth of evidence. 1999 Scotland’s first Parliament since 1707 convenes in Edinburgh.
2003 Whithorn Priory Museum is officially opened. 2004 Scottish Parliament building opened.
