Period Key events at Whithorn
Pre - 1300 Christianity reaches Whithorn.  Ninian is Bishop of Whithorn.
1300 - 1599 The future Edward II of England visits St Ninian's shrine at Whithorn Cathedral.         
1600 - 1899 Whithorn's church is adapted for an Anglican style of worship.  
The Latinus Stone is discovered.
1900 - Today     Queen Elizabeth tours the priory ruins.
